Cadex Product Recall

April 4th, 2023

Preventive Warning

REQUIRING YOUR IMMEDIATE ATTENTION

Dear Cadex customer,

We have been aware today of a possible error that an employee working on packaging may have done couple of weeks ago. This error may pose a safety concern requiring your immediate attention.

If we contact you today, it is because you recently bought a MX1 MINI or MX1 MICRO muzzle brake and may have accidently received a product, which may not correspond to its packaging label.

Three (3) models may be affected:

  • 3850-432     MX1 MICRO, max .223/5.56 Cal. (1/2-28 tpi)

  • 3850-436     MX1 MINI, max 6.5 Cal. (5/8-24 tpi)

  • 3850-438     MX1 MINI, max .30 Cal. (5/8-24 tpi)

It is very important to verify that the engraving (thread pitch and max cal.) on the bottom surface of the muzzle brake you recently received (see image below), corresponds to the label on the package.

Labels are printed by people who can accidently make mistakes… However, muzzle brakes are engraved by the CNC machine during the production process and will always be accurate.
NEVER TRUST THE LABEL. ALWAYS TRUST THE MARKING ON THE MUZZLE BRAKE.

i.e.: The label on the packing may accidently refer as a MX1 MINI .30 caliber, while the actual muzzle brake in the package may be a 6.5 caliber. Even if we think that there is very low risk of this happening, there is no chance to take when it comes to safety.

If you already installed the muzzle brake on your rifle, make sure the muzzle brake bore diameter is large enough for your caliber/projectile. The projectile you shoot should always be smaller than the bore diameter of the muzzle brake.

If you are a dealer, please immediately inspect your inventory to make sure the packaging label matches the engraving on the muzzle brake. Please relay this information to any customers you may have sold one of the above-mentioned products since the beginning of the year (2023).

If you accidently received the wrong item for your rifle, please reach to us and we will fix this situation right away.

We thank you for your help to resolve the situation and apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.

A preventive product recall has been issued for the following product:

SNIPER DRAG BAG

Cadex has been informed of an isolated problem with some accessory pocket zippers installed in our Sniper Drag Bags. This problem seems specific to a batch that we received from our supplier about a year ago and may or may not impact your drag bag depending on when you bought yours.

The problem originates from a specific lot of zipper carriers that left the factory hair out of spec and did not apply enough compression to each side of the zipper for the teeth to engage properly.

The fix is quite fast and easy and requires only one pair of pliers to fine-tune the zipper carrier. We’ve put a small video together for your better understanding of this easy fix:

A preventive product recall has been issued today for the following product:

• CDX-MC Kraken (detachable base screw ONLY)

The problem affects only the most recent run of our KRAKEN model.

We’ve become aware of an issue with the detachable base retaining screw. When using the CDX-MC Kraken take-down tool to screw in the bottom metal, we have found that the screw head can snap off, therefore leaving the screw body stuck in the threads.

If your CDX-MC Kraken had the issue mentioned above, this recall is for you.

If you think this recall concerns you, please get in contact with our customer service department. We will take care of sending you the correct replacement parts.

Be advised, that this recall does not cause any safety concerns whatsoever. You can continue shooting your rifle as you would typically do.

Cadex is committed to providing the best products and customer service to its customers. This is why we want everyone affected by this recall to contact our customer service department so that we can fix this situation rapidly.

Thank you for your trust and loyalty to our products. We are sorry for any inconvenience this may cause.

Please get in touch with our customer department at 1-888-348-6774 (toll-free) or by e-mail at customerservice@cadexinc.com for the recall procedure and for any questions you might have.

A preventive safety product recall has been issued today for the following muzzle brakes:

• Part#: 3850‐044 Muzzle Brake for 50 BMG (1‐14 threads)
• Part#: 3850‐045 MX1 Muzzle Brake for .375 CT and .408 CT (7/8‐24 threads)

These muzzle brakes were designed for use with the following Cadex rifles.

• CDX-50 Tremor .50 BMG
• CDX-40 Shadow .375 CT/.408 CT

These muzzle brakes may have been purchased between January 2016 and June 2017 as part of a complete rifle system or as a separate aftermarket bolt-on accessory. If you own one of these muzzle brakes STOP USING IT IMMEDIATELY and contact Cadex Inc. for instructions on product replacement.

While the situation is isolated and remains focused on a very small number of muzzle brakes, a particular batch of them may have been exposed to certain fluctuations of the metallurgical properties of the raw materials used to produce these muzzle brakes and a risk that a failure may occur possibly resulting in serious injuries.

Cadex Inc. is highly committed to providing its customers with only the best products possible and as such we are proactively recalling ALL of the above-mentioned muzzle brakes. To date, Cadex Inc. has been unable to replicate a failure. However, Cadex Inc. will be replaced at no charge with the above-mentioned muzzle brakes to customers who have purchased these products within the above-prescribed period.

Notwithstanding the foregoing, it is imperative, for security reasons, that you return any such product detailed above that may have been purchased between January 2016 and June 2017 to Cadex Inc.

We deeply regret any inconvenience this may cause you and while Cadex Inc. has the utmost confidence in the design of the MX1 muzzle brake, it is undertaking this recall in the interest of consumer safety.

If you have purchased this product within the above-described period, please contact our technical advisory team at 1-450-348-6774 or customerservice@cadexinc.com and one of our advisors will provide you with instructions on the replacement.
